Oh My - Seems CBS thinks the President wants the Draft Back

So the next onslaught against Bush from the CBS 527 organization, cough, cough, news team, is that Bush wants to re-institute the draft. This has been going around the web for quite sometime now and back in June or July I did some research on bills introduced concerning the Draft. It seems that there are some out that have introduced bills to re-instate the draft. In fact two have been brought up, one to the floor of House of Representatives and one to the Senate. The house bill comes to us from none other than… Rangle, a democrat from New York. The Senate Bill comes to us from Hollings, a democrat from South Carolina. And both are co-sponsored by other democrats. Anyway, check out the latest at ratherbiased.com. I'll research the bill numbers and re-post a comment with both. Evedently CBS has found a way to blame Bush for this.

Updates:

Here is the bill from Rangle: House Resolution 163

Co-Sponsors:
Rep Abercrombie, Neil [HI-1] - 1/7/2003
Rep Brown, Corrine [FL-3] - 1/28/2003
Rep Christensen, Donna M. [VI] - 5/19/2004
Rep Clay, Wm. Lacy [MO-1] - 1/28/2003
Rep Conyers, John, Jr. [MI-14] - 1/7/2003
Rep Cummings, Elijah E. [MD-7] - 1/28/2003
Rep Hastings, Alcee L. [FL-23] - 1/28/2003
Rep Jackson, Jesse L., Jr. [IL-2] - 7/21/2004
Rep Jackson-Lee, Sheila [TX-18] - 1/28/2003
Rep Lewis, John [GA-5] - 1/7/2003
Rep McDermott, Jim [WA-7] - 1/7/2003
Rep Moran, James P. [VA-8] - 1/28/2003
Rep Stark, Fortney Pete [CA-13] - 1/7/2003
Rep Velazquez, Nydia M. [NY-12] - 1/28/2003

The Senate version from Hollings is Senate Bill 69.

Not a Republican fingerprint on these bills. Yeah, it's all Bush, CBS, you just keep it up and you can qualify as a 527 group.

Funny Joke

From GeeksWithGuns:

Kerry: An exotic dancer in a gay cabaret?

Little Timmy was in his 5th grade class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up... a fireman, a policeman, a salesman, a doctor, a lawyer, etc. Timmy was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father.

"My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer's really good, he'll do other things to make money that I really can't mention."

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and took little Timmy to the side to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?"

"No," said Timmy , "He works for the Kerry campaign, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids.

New Reads

Adding some new daily read links. For starters, Powerlineblog. These guys have put blogging on the map by breaking the Rathergate story. Powerline is where it all started and they have become a favorite read of everyone in the blogosphere.

Next is Head’s Bunker Blog, this guy is from my neck of the woods and has some major fire power. I look forward to checking out his site everyday.

Also, I’m adding Conservative Eyes. Like me, this guy is a conservative and right now he has some pretty interesting poll data on his site.

Lastly, Civilian Gun Self-Defense Blog. Just list self defense news articles. Pretty interesting reading.

Police Trade-in's at CDNN Investments

Looking for a high quality 40 caliber handgun? Go to CDNN investments and download their latest catalog. The have some Beretta 8040 Cougar police trade-ins from the Utah State Police for $269.00. That is about as awesome of a deal on hand gun that you will find. I have two Cougars, an 8000L and an 8045, and believe me, these are quality Italian made handguns. Two reasons these guns are priced so low, 1. DAO – for whatever reason, Beretta people like DA/SA so the used DAO guns are always cheaper. 2. Used. What does “used” mean? Well typically with police trade-in guns it means holster wear on the finish. The guns will typically have little, if any, wear on the inside.

I'm embarrassed by Kerry's comments

Kerry is starting to sound like he did thirty years ago. He knocks our troops then and is knocking them now. Today he is saying that we’re not getting the job done in Iraq. I guess next he’ll be calling our troops baby killers and meeting with terrorist to reassure them that he’ll give Iraq back.

Ayad Allawi spoke before congress today and thanked our country for ousting Saddam. He was very positive in his speech and sees good things for his country. What does Kerry do?, call a press conference and calls the guy a liar. What an asshole. This is a guest in our country who is speaking before congress. Not only does Kerry, a member of congress, not show up to listen, but he calls Allawi a liar. Kerry is an embarrassment to our country. I think Allawi knows more about what is going on in his own country than Kerry. One thing that Allawi pointed out is that our media is focusing on just the negative happenings in Iraq. He is there and he is excited about the direction his country is taking. He is thanking us. Most of congress applauded this man and Kerry calls a press conference and calls him a liar. You embarrass me Mr. Kerry.

Will I be able to watch CBS again?

I just realized... If CBS forces Rather to quit, I can start watching CBS again. I've been off of CBS since the last presidential election (except for CSI). Since Rathergate, i'm off of CSI too. I like that show, so i hope Rather is gone, quickly.

Bush’s National Guard years

Click the headline link and read the article by Byron York for "The Hill"
Why has the main stream media not reported this. The National Guard has a point system that adds up to basically, as I understand it, days of service. The basic requirement is for 50 points per year. Bush's service was as follows:

Year 1 : May 1968 - May 1969 : 253 PNTS
Year 2 : May 1969 - May 1970 : 340 PNTS
Year 3 : May 1970 - May 1971 : 137 PNTS
Year 4 : May 1971 - May 1972 : 112 PNTS
Year 5 : May 1972 - May 1973 : 56 PNTS
Year 6 : May 1973 - Discharge : 56 PNTS

So you tell me, did Bush complete his service? Did he desert as stated by Michael Moore? Was he AWOL as stated by Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the Democratic National Committee? While Dan Rather was trying to prove that Bush got special treatment, did he bother to accurately portray Bush's service record? Hell no.

I think Not!

Could this be Treason?

From The Australian:

“JOHN Kerry's campaign has warned Australians that the Howard Government's support for the US in Iraq has made them a bigger target for international terrorists.”

This is simply treason and someone should go to jail for this. I’m sorry but how can a presidential candidate get away with working against US interest at a time of war? How can someone who wants to be president tell a foreign government that they should not support the USA in a war? This is absurd and offensive and should be the end of the Kerry campaign in my opinion.

The article goes on to quote Kerry’s sister Diana Kerry:

“"Australia has kept faith with the US and we are endangering the Australians now by this wanton disregard for international law and multilateral channels," she said, referring to the invasion of Iraq.”

For those of you on the fence, I sure hope this gets reported such that you get the opportunity to see it. For those of you who support Kerry, I hope you get to read this too.

I am sickened by these people.

Early Teal Season

I went Teal hunting today and took a limit of 4 birds. The Texas coastal areas and rice fields hold tons of teal and this time of the year we have Blue Wing’s migrating in. Green wings will come later along with a few cinnamon Teal. For all you guys that like target shooting, you should try taking a Teal flying about 50 MPH at 35 yards or so. Loads of Fun and a great challenge. Also, nothing like hunting in 90 degree weather… you have to wear waders or hip boots so you sweat like crazy. Don’t even think about early Teal season without Mosquito spray. Shooting time is 1/2 Hour before sunrise, so you are up early, too early.

I limited out pretty quickly, but stayed in my blind for an hour or so while some others got their limit. There were some great pictures to be take if I had had a camera. The sun was coming up to my back and the Teal would come in straight on in front of us. I’ll try to remember to bring a camera when I go back.

Everything but the kitchen sink

Take a moment, walk to your kitchen, take a look at your sink. Is the faucet dirty around the edges? Does it look a little dirty around the sink. Ever here the expression "everything but the kitchen sink". Well next time take the kitchen sink and leave everything else behind.

We've started down the path of kitchen remodeling. We picked out countertops and then of course my wife indicated that we needed a new cooktop. Of course she wants the smooth surface type and we have an island for the cooktop that takes a 36" unit with a downdraft. That pretty much limits us to one unit, a Kitchenaid KECD865H. I was pretty amazed that only one manufacturer makes a 36” unit with a built in down draft.

Ok back to the kitchen sink... ever wonder how much a kitchen sink cost? What about the faucet? Did you know that a sink does not come with a drain? You have to buy the drain separately. So, for a sink, try $440.00. Faucet - $ 370.00, Drains are about 50 bucks each and then of course we had to have Stainless Steel sink grids at 100 bucks each and a soap despenser at about $135.00 eash. Add in a new garbage disposal and we're up to about 1400 bucks for a freaking sink.

So the next time you hear someone say, everything but the kitchen sink, maybe it's because he can't afford one.

Powerline had the details

From PowerLine:

A half hour ago, Dan Rather went on CNN and said that he knows the Jerry Killian documents to be authentic, and knows that they are not forgeries. Therefore, he said, there will be no retraction, no correction, and -- apparently -- no investigation. The text of the interview is not yet available on CNN's site, but we'll link to it when it becomes available.

I've been off of CBS since the last election. I've have, on occaision, watched CSI, but that is it. Other than that, it's been 4 years since i've watched CBS and even longer for 60 Minutes. Rather is one of the most blaintly biased broadcaster on air today.

If you've never seen the site http://www.ratherbiased.com/ you should check it out.

Ok... let me try some of this

Is this plain text or typewriter text

they’ll find something hand written too

There i said it.... Why do I say this?

Teresa Heinz Kerry says "only an idiot" would fail to support her husband's health care plan.

Therefore I must be an idiot.

AWB Sunsetting

AWB Sunseting - What can now buy Posted by Hello

Picture from The Gun Zone

Automatic Revolvers and grenade launchers

September 9…. Only three more days and the AWB expires. First thing I’m a gonna do is go out to a gun show and pick up one of them automatic revolvers with a grenade launcher and a bayonet lug on it. I can’t believe the stuff I’m reading about and seeing on television. Just a bunch outright lies and misleading mistruths. And a world poll saying to oust GWB? This is news? When commies in France say they would vote for Kerry, it's time for a 10 point jump in the polls for Bush. I cannot ever recall such a concentrated media effort to mislead the public as the two going on right now. The expiration of the Clinton Gun Ban and the re-election of W. You’d think the world was coming to an end.

For the last month we’ve been hearing accusations about the Bush Camp coordinating with the Swift Boat Vets in violation of the law. Nothing was proven is it was of course not true.

Why is no one looking into this weeks obvious coordination between the Kerry Camp, ABC, NBC, CBS, every 527 against Bush in existence, every major news paper, France…. On the subject of Bush’s National Guard records. Do they realize how obvious it all is? Do they realize how petty they sound? What dumbasses.… and they have the gall to talk about the vast right wing conspiracy.

Memphis BBQ

Well I’ve been up since 6am this fine Sunday morning. I’m cooking a pork shoulder today (for you Yankees, that’s a Boston Butt) for a Memphis Barbeque. For those who do not know, a Memphis BBQ is a sandwich that includes lots of smoked pork (shredded), Barbeque Sauce, and Coleslaw.

You know it must be good if one is willing to spend all day preparing it. Yes all day…

1. Prepare offset pit by lighting a charcoal fire (I start at 6:15am). Once the charcoal burns down, add a good hardwood (I use pecan, but hickory is good too).
2. Once the fire is controlled and the smoking section is around 225-250F add the Pork Shoulder.
Note: A pork shoulder will stand on it’s on taste, but I usally apply a rub the night before. I also bone it and put the rub on the inside and tie it back up with cotton string.
3. Cook on the smoker for 5 hours controlling the temperature at about 240-250F and adding wood as needed (about one log per hour). This really smells up the neighborhood and everyone is looking around for the smoke to see who is cooking.
4. Remove from smoker and wrap in heavy duty aluminum foil.
5. Place in a 225F Oven for an additional 6 hours – that’s right total cooking time of 11 hours.
6. Let Cool
7. Pull meat apart (it will just fall apart in your hands). You will notice about a 3/8” red smoke ring around the meat.

Now the good part - layer a bun with meat, sauce, and coleslaw… and enjoy!!!

Excerpt form Zell's speech

Zell Miller speaking of Kerry's voting records.

"And, no pair has been more wrong, more loudly, more often than the two Senators from Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy and John Kerry (news - web sites).

Together, Kennedy/Kerry have opposed the very weapons system that won the Cold War and that is now winning the War on Terror.

Listing all the weapon systems that Senator Kerry tried his best to shut down sounds like an auctioneer selling off our national security but Americans need to know the facts.

The B-1 bomber, that Senator Kerry opposed, dropped 40 percent of the bombs in the first six months of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The B-2 bomber, that Senator Kerry opposed, delivered air strikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan and Hussein's command post in Iraq.

The F-14A Tomcats, that Senator Kerry opposed, shot down Khadifi's Libyan MIGs over the Gulf of Sidra. The modernized F-14D, that Senator Kerry opposed, delivered missile strikes against Tora Bora.

The Apache helicopter, that Senator Kerry opposed, took out those Republican Guard tanks in Kuwait in the Gulf War (news - web sites). The F-15 Eagles, that Senator Kerry opposed, flew cover over our Nation's Capital and this very city after 9/11.

I could go on and on and on: against the Patriot Missile that shot down Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s scud missiles over Israel; against the Aegis air-defense cruiser; against the Strategic Defense Initiative; against the Trident missile; against, against, against.

This is the man who wants to be the Commander in Chief of our U.S. Armed Forces?

U.S. forces armed with what? Spitballs? "

This is exactly what Giuliani was talking about

Read this story from Rueters and watch the news. These are not Chechen Rebels, these are Muslim Terrorist. Maybe someone from this group will join other great peace leaders for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Convention

Yes! I’m being quiet this week. Why, well I just don’t have much to say. I am a conservative and am spending a lot of time watching the convention. When I say I am a conservative, I mean both fiscally and socially, so I’m trying not to get excided about Giuliani and Arnold. I loved both of their speeches, but… And I really like Giuliani and the way he handled himself after 911, but… but, these guys are both social democrats. Of course Arnold can never be president, but Giuliani is making a run for 2008. I’d vote for him, but only as a vote against Hillary. I’m sorry, but that’s how I feel. For those of you that don’t like it…. You are girlie men.
